I honestly can’t believe it’s nearly 2014! The years are flying by more, the older I get. I know I keep saying it but it has been a fast year. This year I’ve uncovered some gems (old and new) that I thought I’d share with you as my best picks for 2013 and hopefully give you some ideas for the New Year’s sales.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation
I finally took the plunge and got a sample of this after months of dithering, and I honestly don’t know why. It is the longest lasting foundation and gives me amazing coverage which I love. It’s perfect for work when I don’t want to be touching up my foundation after a couple of hours. My lovely boyfriend bought me the bottle for Christmas so I’m looking forward to using it more in 2014.
Becca Ever Matte Poreless Primer
Another new addition to my collection and it’s a fab primer, especially when combined with my DW. It’s tricky to master and can be a nightmare if not applied properly, however when done right, it’s a great weapon in your arsenal.
Illamasqua Powder Eyeshadow in Justify
This was purchased earlier this year and has been one of the best multifunctional products I’ve ever purchased, it is a gorgeous matte brown, perfect for eyes. But what I use it for is for contouring. The coolness and the matteness of the powder means I don’t look muddy and my moon face is instantly transformed into a sculpted chiselled masterpiece reminiscent of Kim K (I wish)
Georgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
This foundation is probably the most expensive one I own, but it’s a goodie. Its perfect for nights out when you don’t want flash back or just if you’re feeling a little bit luxurious. It’s a little more yellow toned than my other foundations but I still love it.
Due to my skin’s temperament, I try not to bombard it with the latest lotions and potions, but rather stick to what I know, and what my skin’s happy with. However there have been some new additions to my routine this year, which my skin (and I) have been rather pleased.
Bioderma Sebium H20 Micellar Solution
In October, Escentual had a French Pharmacy Sale, and as I was running low on my La Roche Posay Micellar Solution, I thought I’d take the plunge and purchase the Bioderma one, and boy am I glad I did.
Manuka Doctor ApiClear Blemish Treatment Serum
I declare this to be the miracle worker for cystic spots. On the whole my skin tone has been more even since I started using this and as I reflected on my skin today (after thinking about this serum I thought about the last time I had serious spots) and I realised it must be 4+ weeks since I had a serious spot. Maybe it’s this product, maybe at the age of 22 and 10 months my skin is finally settling down…Ha! unlikely.
Caudalie VinoSource SOS Thirst Quenching Serum
This has done wonders for my confused skin, rehydrating and rejuvenating it, resulting in plumper and more balanced skin.
Skinetica Anti Blemish Treatment
This stuff is amazing, both on its own and combined with the Manuka Doctor for clearing blemishes. I’m on my fourth bottle and it’s a firm favourite in my skin care routine.
To be honest I’m rubbish when it comes to bodycare. I usually use whatever shower gel’s I get for Christmas (usually copious amounts of Soap and Glory) and they last me the year (I’ve not bought any shower gel this year!). Ditto body scrubs. However there are a couple of beauty bits that have made their way into my routine and totally changed things for the better!
Nivea In Shower Moisturiser
How has a product like this only just been invented. It’s totally revolutionised moisturising for me as I hated the feeling of waiting for it to sink in and my skin being tacky but with the Nivea Moisturiser, I put it on, wash it off and go!
A boring and not very glamorous product I know, but the addition of this anti-perspirant has been important to me this year. After trying numerous products claiming to stop perspiration, I found this is the only one that does what it says, and stops it for about a week or more. It no longer itches very much when I put it on providing I let it dry and don’t put it on after shaving.
Nina Ricci – Ricci Ricci Perfume
I got this perfume a couple of Christmases ago and I rediscovered it back in October and boy am I glad. I remember how much I loved this perfume when I first got it.
I noticed when I was writing this that I have no haircare products that made the list, and that’s true, I’ve not found a single product that was worth a mention this year. Hopefully in 2014 I will find some worth a post or two!
