Bobbi Brown CC Cream– £29 *
There’s been a lot of chatter lately about BB creams and CC creams, it all gets a little confusing no? CC creams seem to be the latest market offering and they are aimed more at colour correcting under your base rather than a sort of ‘hide blemishes tinted moisturiser hybrid’ that is BB creams. I’ve never tried either CC creams or in fact any Bobbi Brown products before, so when I was asked if I’d like to try the new Bobbi Brown CC Cream I was eager to give it a whirl.
The Bobbi Brown CC cream’s ingredients take a three step approach. Colour correcting pigments address sallowness, redness and dullness, light diffusers blur the look of imperfections and illuminate skin. Finally botanicals brighten skin. It also has SPF35 with UVA and UVB protection (woohoo!).
I have to admit I was a little anxious when I first saw the colour of the cream- a pale lavender colour- as I wondered how this could possibly match my skin tone, temporarily forgotten it was colour correcting (I told you I’m new to this CC cream biz!). However once I realised this and applied it, I calmed down. It’s lovely and easy to apply, smoothing over the skin quite nicely.
It’s a lovely base for foundation and it definitely makes a difference- particularly with blemishes- as they’re easier to cover up once I get around to concealing which is a definite plus point! It makes my skin overall less rosy and more even and dare I say glowy!
I’ve tried it with moisturiser underneath and without and it made me just a little bit too greasy so I do have to forgo the moisturiser if I’m applying this.
The only drawback I have found with this product is that I find that although it does correct quite well and tone down the rosy red parts of my skin, it does leave a slight purplish cast to my skin so I wouldn’t use it on its own. At £29 as well for 40ml it is on the expensive side especially for a product you would use daily.
Being a newbie to the world of CC creams I can’t give a comparison to others, but it’s definitely persuaded me to delve into the world of CC creams a bit more. The more I use this, the more I like it. It’s a lovely product and I like that it evens out my skin, particularly the post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation my skin is prone to.
At this point I’m not sure if I would repurchase with my own money. It is a great product don’t get me wrong, but it is a tad on the expensive side and I’d like to try some of the other market offerings to see how they fare. However if you’ve tried some other CC Creams and not been impressed so far, give this one a go!
