‘Full Steam Ahead’ is one of the latest offerings from the Summer 2013 collection by Essie. I have to admit, of all the nail polishes I own, the largest percent of them are different shades of purple. It’s my absolute favourite colour, so when I saw this on my hunt for ‘Sunday Funday’ (which ps. I also love) I decided to pick this little beauty up as well.
‘Full Steam Ahead’ is a pale pastel blue toned lilac colour with grey undertones, but also has tiny flecks of glitter, making it different to the many other lilac coloured polishes I own. It comes in the traditional Essie bottle we’ve all come to recognise with a nice wide brush for easy application.
The application is good, but quite thin, so one coat will definitely not do. However with the wide brush and a quick drying formula, it shouldn’t take too much longer to do a couple of coats.
Durability isn’t something I’m great with as I’m too careless with my manicures and even the best top coat (I’ve tried them all) cannot stop nail polish chipping and tip wear. However if you’re careful, (ie: no washing up, no opening things) then it should last a couple of days without a top coat, a few more with.
As always, Essie nail polishes are DBP, Toluene and Formaldehyde free for those of you concerned about the chemicals you’re putting into or onto your body.
Full Steam Ahead can be purchased from Boots and other drugstores for £7.99
