I absolutely adore Mac lipsticks, they’re fabulous quality, high end enough to make the beauty savvy go green with envy when you pull it out of your bag and I think they’re just the right price without flinching when I get to the counter. Although another lippy wasn’t on my agenda, when I popped into Selfridges with my friend Jess a couple of weeks ago, we naturally gravitated to the Mac counter.
I was torn between Ruby Woo and Russian Red, but when I swatched Ruby Woo I knew it was the one to buy. It’s a true red with slightly blue undertones, it looks fantastic on and because it’s matte it makes your lips look like red velvet.
Ruby Woo is a retro matte finish, so it’s really matte, there’s no shine to it at all. This means that it’s a little more difficult to apply than your good ole cremesheen. You have to take your time and be a little more careful than just slick ‘n’ go with this kind of lippy, you also have to ensure you prep your lips to make sure they’re flake free. However the finish is so worth the extra time and patience.
I also find that Ruby Woo lasts a little longer than Mac’s creamier offerings, meaning I don’t have to worry as much that I have lipstick smeared across my face.
One for your collection if you haven’t yet got this baby.
Ruby woo can be purchased from Mac counters and Mac’s website for £15
