It’s New Years Eve! The end of 2013, and to celebrate that, I’ve put together a New Years Eve Look. This would be perfect for if you’re spending a night on the tiles tonight, or having a more low key affair with family or friends.

It’s got the longevity to last well past midnight, and a subtle enough smokey eye/ red lip combo that bends the rules and would suit even the wariest of makeup wallflowers.

Base:
I used Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk as a base, with Estee Lauder Double Wear as a top up for those areas that need the extra coverage/longevity (eg. my T-zone). I didn’t use a primer but you could if you wished.

Use a little concealer on any blemishes or dark circles, then set with Illamasqua Translucent Powder for that soft focus finish.

Then I used Nars Blush in Deep Throat for a subtle pinky flush. Some gentle contouring with Illamasqua Eye Powder in Justify (I’m not going for Kim K overkill here, although you could if you want to ramp up the glamour) around the nose, jaw line, temples and cheekbones give a more sculpted effect and the tiniest of highlighter on the brow and cheekbones. I used Benefit High Beam. Define the brows with HD Brows Palette then on to the eyes.

Eyes
I used the Naked 3 Palette for this smokey eye look. Apply some Urban Decay Primer Potion first to make sure your shadow won’t budge as you party long into the night, then wash the lid with Strange. Then apply Burnout up to the socket line. Blend Mugshot along the outer third of your lid and blend into the socket line, then run it down your lower lash line. For a final flourish add Darkside along your top lash line, the outer corner V of the eye and just bring it down to the lower lash line slightly.
Line your top lash line with some liquid or gel eyeliner. I used Mac Fluidline in Blacktrack. Curl your lashes if you wish and apply lashings of Benefit’s They’re Real mascara, which I got this Christmas and it’s fab.

Finally a slick of red gloss will finish off the look nicely and you won’t be worried about your lipstick bleeding or smudging if you’ve had one too many cocktails or midnight smooches. I used a French Connection gloss.

Hope you all have a fab night and Happy New Year!!
