Christmas is over now for another year, which makes me sad as it’s my favourite time of year and by next Christmas I’ll be another year older. It’s no secret that I think January is a rubbish month, with the indulgence of Christmas over but still another 6 weeks till my birthday.
I always seem to do new Year’s resolutions, even though I can’t remember what mine were this year but probably along the lines of getting fit etc. It’s become sort of a tradition to do them and I do see the New Year as a new start so here’s mine:
1. Carry on with losing weight and getting fit
I’ve done quite well this last year with losing weight and keeping it off, however this year I’d like to shift the last 8-10lbs and finally be at my goal weight.
2. Wear sunscreen every day
I’m quite good with wearing SPF most days, but some days I don’t and as I’m getting older (I’ll be 23 this year!) I need to start investing in my skin so I’ll still have my wonderful, youthful, taught skin when I’m 30 and beyond (fingers crossed).
I really like this Bioderma one which I got as a sample with my micellar water, so I might have to invest in the full tube once this runs out.
3. Eat less sugar
This is partly to help me lose weight and partly to protect my skin. It’s becoming more and more obvious sugar is the main culprit rather than fat, so I’d like to cut back as not only does it send your blood sugar rocketing and can cause long term problems with insulin etc but it also destroys the collagen in your skin!! Unfortunately for me I have a major sweet tooth, but I’m going to try my best to cut back on excess sugar. I already avoid sugary drinks and use stevia as a sugar replacement in my coffee. I’ve also stopped buying low fat yoghurts after I saw how much sugar there was in them. However I still eat quite a few things with a lot of added sugar, so I will try and eat these less (I’m not quitting chocolate for anyone!)
4. Read more books
I always want to read a book, especially with lots of film adaptations coming out at the moment, but I get so distracted by technology. I’m hoping to turn off my Ipad this year and pick up a book instead.
5. Keep posting on my blog
I’ve done really quite well getting back into blogging this year, however if I slip out of my routine, I find it quite difficult to get back in to it all. However I’m going to aim to post at least once a week, even as a minimum.
6. Be better with budgeting
Last year has been quite difficult and it’s not been helped by some reckless spending on my behalf. I’m going to try and be better at budgeting so I can clear my debts up and ultimately have more money to spend on myself
Have you made any New Year’s resolutions? What are they?
