Exercise is something we should all do and it can be one of the most boring things ever if you don’t like doing it but it is essential if you want to be healthy, toned and you want to achieve a slimmer look faster. Even doing 30 minutes of exercise 3 times a week is enough.

There are many forms of exercise, mainly falling into the two categores: weight training and cardio; you should aim to do some of each when exercising. Cardio comes in the form of swimming, walking, jogging, cycling and general sports that gets your heart racing. It is good for burning the fat all over your body especially the visceral fat. Visceral fat is the fat you accumulate around your organs. This is much more dangerous than the fat you can see. That is why it’s important to do cardiovascular to help get rid of this fat and to keep your heart healthy.

Weight training is also great exercise for helping to tone you up, it builds muscle, and muscle burns fat. 1lb of muscle burns 50 calories every day.

But if I do weight training I’ll end up like a bodybuilder

NOT true, bodybuilding requires you to do lots of repetitions with heavy weights. Doing light weights will help tone your body and build muscle as well as helping you lose weight. Also if you want that lovely lean sinewy look that many celebrities sport now then you’re best to do lots of repetitions with a lower weight.

Yoga and Pilates are also another good form of exercise because they keep you toned and flexible and they are low impact meaning you won’t be breaking a sweat like you would on a treadmill but you’re still working out.

Remember!
You shouldn’t overdo it otherwise you could pull a muscle and you should always warm up!
You cannot spot reduce, doing thousands of sit ups because you don’t like your stomach won’t give you washboard abs. The weight comes off from all over your body not just in one area.
Also if you do lots of sit ups and no cardio you won’t get that washboard stomach because you’ll have lovely toned muscles that are hidden by that fat so you need the cardio to burn it off.

Hopefully by doing exercise you’ll lose the weight faster and tone up quicker than just healthy eating.
