If you’re aware from my tweets, I had tonsillitis last week, it was really bad. I’m still on antibiotics until tomorrow, I’m feeling fine now though. It started on Monday night, I had a sore throat and I could feel it swelling up and I thought oh no I’m gonna have one of my typical sore throats again because I do have quite bad sore throats anyway. So I didn’t have any throat spray because George had used the last of mine.
I asked if anyone had any vodka so I could drink it neat and kill whatever was there but no-one had any so I had to go without, so I took some Ibuprofen to hopefully bring down the swelling so I could go to the chemist in the morning for a throat spray.
About 11pm I was really cold and I needed to have a shower anyway so I put my heating on for 15 mins and got in the shower and had a nice hot shower and when I got out I was quite warm. I was tired and was up at 7.45am the next day so I decided to get some sleep. At 2am however I was very hot which I didn’t understand because my heating wasn’t on so I opened my window and threw the covers off me to cool down but so I didn’t get a chill. I still wasn’t cooling down though however and I felt like shit at this point, my throat was still killing me and I was so hot so I thought to myself “I’ve got a fever here” so I got a cold compress to put on my head and rang my mum to tell her I really didn’t feel well and she said she’d pick me up.
Luckily I only live about 20 mins away from uni so it didn’t take long for her to get here so she came and picked me up. I’d collected some stuff for a few days and then my mum took me home. I still had a fever but i managed to get a bit of sleep.
The next day I could hardly swallow my throat was swollen that badly I had to drink water through a straw and solid foods weren’t happening at all. I was so dehydrated as well because of the fever but I couldn’t drink the amount I wanted which killed me.
When she checked on me in the afternoon she had a look in my throat and she saw how bad it was and I still had a fever so she rang the doctor but they were like “oh we dont have any appointments until thursday” and my mum was like “she needs to see a doctor now” and the woman was like “ring the walk in centre” so my mum rang to see how long the wait was and then we drove to the walk in centre.
I waited about 40 minutes then I saw the first nurse who assessed me and she took my temperature and my pulse and I was 102F which is 39.5C which is really quite high and my pulse was 138 and I was sat down! so the nurse was like O.O I’ll put you on an urgent. So I went back in the waiting room and 5 minutes later I saw the senior nurse who told me I had to take paracetamol and ibuprofen every few hours and she gave me penicillin as well because she diagnosed me with tonsillitis.
I had to take the penicillin every 6 hours so I had to get up at 6am and go to sleep at 12am every night.
The pills also gave me really bad stomach ache so on thursday I went to the doctors and got my pills changed to another antibiotic which worked.
I’m on my last day today wooooot 
The only thing that bummed me out was it was George’s birthday weekend last weekend and all his friends came up and I couldn’t go because I was still ill

I’ve got a lot of assignments coming up so I don’t know when I’ll be able to blog but I will soon

Ugh! I hate tonsillitis!! But when I was around 8 I got my tonsils out xP. I barely remember it xD.
I dont get really many soar throughts anymore, but I still get sick alot :P. I have a kinda bad immune system :(.
Wow 102 F D:. Aww I think my most recent temperature when I was sick was around that, maybe a bit lower :(.

I had tonsilitis when I was 3. I don’t really remember it that well, but I had really bad tonsilitis and I was in hospital for about a week. I had to have injections and have my tonsils removed. Hope you’re feeling better, illnesses are such a bummer.

Ouch, sorry to hear that you have tonsillitis!!! My friend had that once and she said that the sore throats were horrible and you could barely swallow.

Aww I hate it when you can’t do anything about it. =/ That sucks, but at least you and your flatmate have decided to stick up for George if anything happens.
Sorry to hear you had tonsilitis, sounds like it gave you a pretty bad time! Luckily I’ve never had it, though I know a number of people who have. Aww, damn. It’s not fair when you have to miss people’s birthdays cuz you’re ill. At least you’re feeling better now though!

Bleh the pills and penicillin you were forced to take didn’t sound pleasant at all, but I guess you had to do whatever it took to cure you!

Seriously, some doctors are weird.. you could be “dieing” and they tell you that they don’t have any appointments. If it wouldn’t be an emergency your mum wouldn’t make such a big deal and would’ve asked for an appointment right away…

Sometimes I get worried when I am feeling really hot when everyone is cold or vice versa; it makes me think there’s something wrong and I probably have a fever.
It sucks that you were dehydrated as well and couldn’t swallow anything. T_T And I’m sorry you missed out on George’s birthday!
