We’ve seen quite a lot of new nail trends come out over the last 12 months or so, from magnetic nail polish, shatter nails, caviar nails and even fluffy nails, so it’s always interesting to see what they’ll come up with next. Recently Illamasqua released their I’mperfection collection, which I have to say hasn’t enticed me as much as previous collections. However I noticed these speckled egg like nail polishes which looked great.
These polishes were inspired by bird eggs and Illamasqua do 5 different colours in the “speckled” type- pink, lilac, green, blue and nude, which all have their own unique names. I went for “Speckle” which is a speckled lilac polish, mainly because purple is my favourite colour and I wasn’t sure how much wear I’d get out of some of the other shades.
Speckle is a pale lilac colour with black hexagonal glitter. What makes this polish different from other glitter polishes is the varying sizes of glitter, in addition to the larger hexagonal pieces there are small flecks, which really add to the speckled egg look.
Speckle has a fairly thin formula but is relatively easy to apply and despite it being quite a pale polish it’s fairly opaque, even on the first coat. However it’s definitely advisable to apply a couple of coats.
Durability wise it lasts as long as normal polishes as far as I can tell only a few days without a topcoat and a little bit longer with.
I definitely recommend trying out these polishes, they’re a really cute and unique addition to your collection, and I probably will be buying the green and blue ones.
Illamasqua Speckle nail polish can be purchased from Illamasqua for £14.50
