Big hair is always in style and I’m always jealous of those who achieve it. If you’re a regular reader then you’ll know (as I frequently lament about it) that I have the finest flattest hair in the world. It probably doesn’t help that I have long hair, but it seriously is so fine, my hairdresser complains every time she has to do my hair because it’s so knotty and it dries super quick.
Anyway because of this, I’m always on the lookout for products that will inject some oomph into my hair without resorting to excessive amounts of backcombing so when I was asked if I would like to try out some of the John Frieda Luxurious Volume range, I said “Yes Please!” I was very kindly sent the shampoo, conditioner and blow out spray from the range and couldn’t wait to give them a whirl!
I started the volumising process in the shower withJohn Frieda Luxurious Volume Touchably Full Shampoo*. It’s good as a basic shampoo, it cleansed my hair very well without stripping it but I didn’t find it gave me thicker feeling hair or more volume. The scent is okay it’s not my favourite but it’s far from unpleasant!
TheJohn Frieda Luxurious Volume Touchably Full Conditioner*is great. My hair is so amazingly soft after I’ve used this. It’s really lightweight and made it easy to comb out my tangly hair and stop it being so flyaway. It didn’t really give my hair much hydration or volume that it claims, but I think that can be forgiven really as it’s not a hydrating conditioner and on the whole it does live up to it’s claims.
The star of the show though isJohn Frieda Luxurious Volume Fine to Full Blow-out Spray*. Whilst it doesn’t suddenly give me a full on eighties bouffant it does make my hair thicker and gives more volume than my hair would achieve on it’s own. I had to be quite liberal with this, but it doesn’t weigh your hair down or make it look greasy, which I’m always wary with when it comes to styling products. I will be adding this to my daily styling routine as it’s quite a lightweight spray and makes my hair feel really full and thick as well as giving my hair some volume.
I did test out the shampoo and conditioner together without the spray and there was no difference in volume except that my hair was super super soft, so I definitely think the spray helped give my roots a lift.
I tend to have a shower at night and wash my hair then because waking up at 6:30am I just do not have the time! One evening this week I tried out the full routine before bed and got Harry to take pictures hence why I’ve got no makeup on.
Hair after using the John Frieda shampoo, conditioner and blow out spray
I’d say all of the products in the range are good but if you’re looking for some real volume from your shampoo give it a miss. The conditioner is great for giving you really soft hair but again is probably a bit of a novelty. The blow out spray definitely is the best of the lot and worth a try. It definitely made my hair feel fuller and at only £6.99 it’s a bargain!
