I’ve not done a diet and fitness update for a while, mainly because nothing much has been happening. I’d previously been doing well and lost 3lbs making me the lowest weight I’d been for 3 years, but I’ve well and truly fallen off the wagon and put it back due to indulgent eating and not enough exercise. However I’m going away in May and I’d really like to lose those three pounds before then. I’ve made a few changes this last couple of weeks and I’m hoping that they will come to fruition before my holiday rolls around.
I’m not a big fan of continuous exercise. I find it extremely boring and monotonous, plus I read quite an interesting article here about how steady state cardio isn’t great for fat loss and good body composition. I’m no endurance athlete, nor do I have any desire to be, what I want is to be slim and lean so I’ve gone back to HIIT and I’m quite enjoying it. Hopefully in a few weeks I will start seeing some results.
30 day abs and squat challenge
I stumbled across this post by Onceuponaglam a few weeks ago and decided to take it up. I’ve never been a big fan of squats and I obviously understand that spot reduction doesn’t work, but I thought it’d be a nice challenge to take and to incorporate more exercise into my life as well as the gym. I’m on Day 9 currently, I’ve had to skip a few days this week with my gran passing away but I’m determined to finish.
My diet has been horrendous this last few weeks. When I stick to Weight Watchers I lose weight, but lately I’ve just not been able to stop eating. Last weekend was particularly bad (read: two bowls of cereal and a hot cross bun for breakfast, takeaway for tea). I need to make better choices and not eat so much of everything especially cake and chocolate, which is going to be so easy with it being Easter this weekend(!) Also I’ve just purchased some coconut oil. I’ve been wanting to try cooking with it for a while and I’m really looking forward to using it and trying some new things.
I hope to have lost some weight and have some more positive inspirational words for you in my next diet and lifestyle posts, but every day is a new day and if you’ve fallen off the wagon, just start again. You don’t need to wait for a new week, start today! The sooner you start, the sooner you get to goal.
